Whether you have a product or service, or you are a content creator/expert, there are many opportunities to stay top of mind with your customers and/or audience this summer. You can do this through your content as well as through press and partnerships.
The key is to think like an editor. Editors - and influencers - approach stories and content through a seasonal lens, always thinking about what is in service for their readers and audience.
To think like an editor, ask yourself these questions:
What do people (your customers, clients, or audience) most need or want right now?
How can I be a resource to them this time of year?
What is top of mind and relevant?
What trends or trending topics could I tap into?
How is what I have to offer - whether a product, service, area of expertise or sharing my life/brand/POV online - relevant during the summer?
To help you put your editor hat on, we’ve created a list of seasonal summer themes, key dates, along with examples of summer content and pitch angles for both product/service businesses and for content creators/experts. We’ve included a couple of video clips from our latest membership lesson, as well as actionable next steps to put your summer pitches and content into action.

Summer Content Inspiration
Product shopping round ups, entertaining advice, summer wellness challenges, and travel-related content are just a few examples of what is top of mind right now. Think about how you can create content that will serve/inspire your target audience while reinforcing your expertise, credibility and what you have to offer.
Summer Press Coverage Inspiration
During the summer you’ll often see family-related articles, especially back to school in August, travel pieces, summer shopping, and expertise on all things summer-related. You can also always pitch evergreen stories, like profile features or podcast interviews.
Summer Content Creator/Influencer Inspiration
Content creators and influencers often host events and launch partnerships and collaborations in the summer months. A collaboration could be as simple as curating a playlist or styling an outfit for a brand partner, or a more official collaboration like hosting an event or collaborating on a collection design. These examples can inspire you if you are a content creator or a brand looking to partner with a creator in the coming months.

Even as someone who has been pitching for a while, I find this newsletter to be so helpful!
I'd be really curious to learn your insights regarding timelines for pitching around specific events. I'm new to pitching gift guides/things revolving around a specific day and haven't yet found a perfect formula for how far in advance to reach out or when to send final follow-ups.
Thanks for this amazing breakdown! I'm planning a summer event for interior designers, architects, stylists, influencers, journalists etc in LA! Is this a little old school for PR? Hoping to highlight the great work my architect client is doing and other female entrepreneurs in the space!
